A Roo rocking the Croc!

Howdy! I thought it was high time I let you know a little about the leather and buckles that I use in my craft. I'd like you to know that it is done in a sustainable manner.

I've been purchasing Kangaroo Hides from the same guy for the last 20 odd years. The quality is exceptional and like no other tanneries hides I've come across. All the Kangaroo Hides I use, are sourced from this reputable dealer who holds all the relevant licenses.

"There is an abundant supply of kangaroos in Australia amounting to far more than the number of people and of the eighty or more types of 'roos and wallabies, only a few are commercially harvested.

The kangaroo industry in Australia is very strictly controlled by the individual state National Parks and Wildlife Services (NPWS) and also the Federal NPWS which is called Environment Australia with strict limits and a quota system. To be able to deal in processing kangaroo products the individual or business needs to hold one or more licenses. I hold all the relevant licenses required.

The kangaroo leather I sell is vegetable tanned in Wattle Bark. This method of tanning was developed last century from the Oak tanning methods brought out to Australia by the early settlers from England." link to source

I was also fortunate to stumble upon Crocodile Skin Buckles from R.M.Williams. Fear not, the Crocodile Leather R.M.Williams use is all sourced from an approved conservation program also.
